I want to be an Officer to set the example and have others follow it. Society expects nothing but the best from its Military Officers. For over 200 years every officer has sworn an oath to uphold the Constitution and Defend the Nation against all enemies both foreign and domestic.
For many young people the chance to become an Army officer is a lifetime dream. They have been preparing for this career through hours of studying and staying physically fit. Below are some of the most common reasons why being commissioned as an Army officer is a goal.
The Army uses the skills of these officers to sustain and maintain critical military operations. Direct commission officers serve in the reserves or on active duty and most often occupy leadership positions in the areas of science, law, supply-logistics-transportation and public affairs.
Army officers are people who have ambitious goals. Whatever your background when you arrive, you'll all go on to have one thing in common: you will all receive the best leadership and management training in the world at Sandhurst.
One of the most important things I have learned, is to never be complacent or accepting of mediocrity. The influential person who has aided in this realization is my father. He believed in every situation there is a chance to not only improve ones self but to help others. I am grateful for.
Respect in the military is highly regarded because it provides structure and foundation through the chain of command to respect the rank and authority. Without military respect and respect for authority, there will be no structure and the entirety of the United States Army would fail.
The Army’s Values demand a particular degree of commitment and self-sacrifice from each and every officer and soldier (The United States Military Academy, 2016). Any person who decides to join the military, are required to commit themselves to achieving and maintaining main army values of the corresponding country.
